Chris started judo at the age of 7 training at the oldest club in New Brunswick, the Shimpokai. While there he competed provincially and nationally having his best result be a 5th place finish at senior nationals. Chris went on to become an assistant instructor the Shimpokai, the same club he began his judo career under the guidance of judo Canada hall of famer Carl "Dutchie" Schell. Eventually moving to Miramichi for work he helped establish the Fudoshin judo club in Bathurst until such a time as it was able to run on its own. Following this Chris has established the Jundokan Judo Academy where he teaches here in Miramichi N.B. Chris is a forth degree black belt in judo and member of the judo N.B grading board. In 2009 Chris began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey under visiting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu professors Edgar Lucke and Rodrigo Resende. This connection eventually evolved into the MXT Jiu Jitsu team under professor Max Trombini and Jon Kelly. In 2023 Chris was awarded his black belt in BJJ and continues to practice and teach through MXT Miramichi.
